Psychological Services
Over the course of our lives we will experience a variety of psychological problems.
Some problems will be small and some will be big. Some small problems will get bigger if left on treated. We may encounter difficulties meeting our goals at work, in relationships, and in living in the community. Our education, career, and overall quality of life may be dissatisfying and discouraging. As with our bodies in general, our brains may acquire a “disease” that contributes to our declining quality of life. Some of these “diseases” of the brain will be easy to treat and others will require more extensive treatment. As we live our lives embedded in a sea of other people our relationships can also become sources of challenge and difficulty. Problems with family, love, friendship, and work relationships can all contribute to a discouraging quality of life.
Psychological Services cover the range of psychosocial problems that all of us may encounter. Mental health problems can be prevented by consulting/coaching with people to cope with and/or transform a particular problem of living. Over the life course we all encounter difficulties and transitions that some counseling can help us move out of with a minimum of discouragement. When psychological symptoms impair our quality of life brief therapy can relieve the symptom so we can return to our previous level of functioning. And, when we have enduring psychological problems personality-guided psychotherapy can help us overcome our problems and strive for optimal living.
